#WhytheY

#WhytheY
By: Jamie Saunders - Brunswick Academy
The opportunity to participate in MGA is a great experience. MGA offers so many different roles for students to participate in. The weekend is a great way to learn about the government from a different point of view. Students each have their own motives to attend MGA, and the many different reasons are very interesting.
Austin Dornak from Kenston Forest School said “I wanted to attend MGA because my friends were going and everyone said it was fun.” Claire Aubrey from Kenston Forest School stated “I wanted to attend MGA because I am interested in learning more about the government.” The event offers a unique learning perspective and helps students who are shy about voicing their opinions overcome their fears. Learning about the government is easy through MGA because it is so much fun! MGA creates a safe zone, allowing everyone to voice their opinion.
Austin and Claire used just two examples of the reasons why students attend MGA. The Y sponsors a great event and allows students to make connections with not their peers, but the advisors and college staff as well. The friendships and memories created at MGA will last long beyond the weekend. The answers for #WhytheY are innumerable.
